Typically, the disc will start playing automatically. This laptop does not have a built-in optical drive so I cant just burn a CD and use that. To play a CD or DVD Insert the disc you want to play into the drive. It seems like the laptop will not power the USB ports until the OS boots. If that laptop came with Vista pre-installed, so there may not be XP drivers available for some of or all of its devices.
